Colour:

Shades: First Lighttakes its colour palette inspiration from the view through a frosted winter window, where the sky slowly takes on a watery sky blue hue as the frost and mist of the morning fade. If this cool scene makes you want to retreat to the warmth of indoors, then the Cedarwood accent window pane overcheck anchors the design with the promise of warmth. Like all the fabrics in the collection, marled grey unifies the design with a characteristic tweedy heritage style.

Design: Windowpane check - characterised by slim, evenly spaced bands of colour running vertically and horizontally to form large squares, reminiscent of windowpanes. This particular design features a subtle underlying wider band beneath the windowpane lines, creating added depth and emphasis that highlights the checks structure.

Style: This smart check has a classic rural style that is easily at home in modern apparel or decor. The cedarwood check evokes natural warmth, while the blue-grey keeps the design versatile and understated.

Properties:

Texture: This all wool Yorkshire Heritage Tweed features a classic wool outerwear texture that balances ruggedness with comfort. Typically fibrous, yet cosy and protective against the elements, naturally insulating, it traps air between fibres, providing warmth without being stifling. Breathable andresistant to wind, though not fully windproof.

Handle: The fabric holds its structure well and is stable along both the width and length, making it ideal for tailored garments like blazers or sport coats, and so much more. These traditional wool tweeds are perfect for soft furnishing and craft purposes.

Drape: First Lightwill drape reassuringly when used at length. It will form neat pleats with structure and softer flares and flounces where required. A natural bias ease provides the opportunity for manipulating the fabric with steam for tailoring purposes.

Garment Suggestions:

Types: This is the perfect fabric for layering pieces in the cooler months, outerwear such as jackets, coats and poncho-style pullovers. Also ideal for more structured pieces, such as tailored jackets and waistcoats.
