Adapted from a 1950s CW Stockwell pattern from our ongoing Trend of the Times collection, Sakana (meaning fish in Japanese) celebrates the spirit of the koi fish, which has long been associated with good luck and longevity.

We worked with LA-based designer Joe Lucas of Lucas Studio to bring this pattern back from our archives in wallpaper form for the Palmetto Snug, his space at the 2020 Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Palm Beach. The Palmetto Pink variation is based exactly upon one of the original colorways from the 1950s collection; Lucass vision helped to herald its timeless appeal with other rich material selections like a terrazzo surround shower and a custom vanity by Los Angeles design duo Lawson-Fenning.

Hand-printed in Los Angeles, each colorway also includes metallic gold-foil ink to accentuate the distinctive swim style of each fish.

Our Sakana Belgian Linen is printed in small batches by hand by our partners in Los Angeles, California at a family-owned facility on the finest (and softest) Belgian Linen.
