I remember picking a classic red, green, and ivory plaid fabric for my 7th grade wardrobe. My mother perfectly matched the lines and transformed that fabric into a snazzy tailored jacket and pants set. There were treasured madras patchwork pants that occasionally needed mending and 25 cent plaid shirts hunted down at summer garage sales after I got my first drivers license.
