Do you feel like you're too much of a planner to make improv quilts? Have you ever felt intimidated by making something without a plan? Or overwhelmed by making decisions on the go instead of just following a pattern?

Improv doesn't have to be intimidating, chaotic, or wonky.

In this live full-day workshop, I will teach you my system for bringing structure and order to improv quilting that suits those of us who like a plan and some guardrails in place before starting a new quilt.

We'll explore ways to have fun with fabric and play with design, all while keeping some basic design principles in mind that will help to keep the overwhelm at bay, and create a quilt that reflects your unique style.

The important details:

• This live virtual workshop is held over Zoom (a zoom account is not necessary to join)
• Skill level: advanced beginner / intermediate. You must be able to sew basic quilt blocks using strips and HSTs, and read patterns using them, without help. The only piecing technique taught will be half-rectangle triangles.
• Duration: there will be 6 hours of instruction/sewing, plus a 30 minute lunch break, for a 6.5 hour total workshop
• Combined instruction time is approximately 2 hours, with the remainder being sewing time while I'm available to guide and answer questions
• You will be able to finish, or get close to finishing, a portion of the quilt top during the workshop that will enable you to finish the rest on your own time.
• A pre-workshop handout PDF will be emailed to you when you sign up, which includes a materials list and guidance on picking fabrics
• The 30-page PDF pattern will be emailed to you a few days before the workshop in case you would like to print it (see cancellation policy below for dates).
• An email with the Zoom link will be sent to you a few days before the workshop
• If you are unable to attend the full length of the workshop, a recording will be available afterwards.
• There will also be a follow-up "Show and Tell" Zoom meet-up on April 25th for those who wish to attend and show off their quilt tops or not-quite-finished quilt layouts, see how everyone else's turned out, and ask additional questions if needed.

For cancellations received before the PDF pattern has been sent out, I will refund the class fee. After the PDF pattern has been emailed, I can't offer a refund, but you may offer your spot to someone else. Please make sure to email me with your replacement's information ASAP, to make sure they will be able to log into the Zoom call.

The pattern will be emailed out on December 14th. Cancellations for the workshop must be received before this date to qualify for a refund.
